After training and working with Vidal Sassoon and 10+ years with Toni & Guy, we founded Publik Salon to deliver a more authentic salon experience and personalised approach.
Publik is a collaborative space. We don't "just work together", We’ve come together because we share the same goal. To combine creative excellence with sustainable practices to create exquisite hair, we inspire each other, and we influence each other. Our philosophy as a team means our collective vision, married with our individual qualities creates an alignment in our work that is unparalleled within Hairdressers in Gold Coast.

Jonathon Hand - Salon Owner/Creative Director
In his 20-year career, Jon has worked for the biggest names in the industry. After training and working for Toni & Guy in Manchester, Jon moved to Sydney where he was finalist of the year at the Toni & Guy awards and co-owner of Toni & Guy North Sydney.
With his eye for suitability and shape, Jon loves creating every day, wearable haircuts with his own creative twist. He really listens to his clients, to produce haircuts that are completely tailored to the individual – an intuitive skill that shines through whether he’s working with men or women.
“No two haircuts are the same because no two heads of hair are the same. I create shapes to suit people, and their everyday hair needs, not the other way around. ” – Jon
Jon is the Australasian Creative Mentor for Organic Colour Systems, educating stylists on cutting hair and working with hair in its natural form. He is also a music producer, creating electronic house music in his spare time.
Nichola Hand - Salon Owner/Resident Alchemist
A passion for education, creativity, and our Planet has defined Nichola’s 27-year career and unique approach to hairdressing. After training with Vidal Sassoon in Manchester, Nichola joined Toni & Guy UK where she flew up the ranks, and across oceans, landing in Sydney to manage the flagship
Toni & Guy salon academy, head up Toni & Guy staff training for cutting and eventually on to co-own Toni & Guy North Sydney.
Nichola has also spent the last 8 years as the Australasian Education Manager for Organic Colour Systems, educating other likeminded hairdressers around Australia and New Zealand, a role which has also taken her to Asia, the U.K and the USA.
She resigned from that role in Dec 2020, to work on Nichola & Jonathons new love child, Neo Salon Education, which focuses on delivering online education around the world to all hairdressers... watch this space!
A creative soul, Nichola is a photographer, she sews, paints and draws, loves crochet and embroidery – and her caring and generous spirit is reflected in Publik’s eco and community-minded initiatives. “Education is a way to give back to our industry for future generations. For Jon and I, that’s about combining sustainability and what we've learned in our combined 45+ years in the industry. It's a win/win all around.” – Nichola
